Valentine’s Day Decor: Heart Skewers

It’s taken me awhile to feel like pulling out my Valentine’s Day decor.  And, truthfully, there’s not a lot of it.  I enjoy putting up a few things here and there, but I have to say Valentine’s Day is not my favorite holiday!

Anyone else with me on that?

Still, I happen to love these heart skewers I made.  They are so easy that I’m not even writing a tutorial about them!


Buy some wooden hearts and skinny dowels at the craft store.  Paint your hearts the color(s) you want.  Lightly distress if desired.  Put a big dollop of hot glue on the back of the heart, then press the dowel in.  Let dry.   Voila!


I put mine in a white pitcher vase filled with dry beans so the skewers will stay in place.

There you go- a quick and easy Valentine’s day decoration!

Scrappin’ Wednesday

Somehow I missed scrapbooking my son’s 4 month pictures, so I pulled together a page using a kit from Peppermint Creative.  It’s called Little Buckaroo and is totally adorable!  I only wish I had pictures of my kids dressed as cowboys- it would be perfect!  Sadly, mine prefer superheros and such.  I do have this picture of my son, wearing a cowboy holster and a skirt.  He calls himself a “scary dancer”.  That’s about as close as we get. Pretty scary, huh? Anyway, here’s what I came up with:

Three Things Thursday (Patriotic Edition)

Well, the 4th of July is almost here, and again, I have a basket full of crafts I meant to get to, and just didn’t.  On top of it all, there are so many great patriotic projects I’ve seen out there that I just have to bookmark them to make for next year.  Hopefully. Here’s this week’s Three Things I love:

1.  These Patriotic T-shirt transfers (and the adorable headband!) from the letter 4 are super cute!  She provides the patterns, so go download them and make your own cute shirts!

2.  These Patriotic Skirts from I’m a Mom, Not a Professional, are so cute!  My daughter would love one of these- maybe I’ll still try to crank one out!

3.  These Red, White, and Blue Sandwich cookies from Itsy Bitsy Paper look delicious!  Wouldn’t they be the perfect addition to your 4th of July Barbecue?  Yum.
