DIY Faux Pumpkin Flower Centerpiece: Pinterest Challenge

I’m a blogger, a mom, and a crafter.  So it kind of goes without saying that I big heart squishy love Pinterest.

But I have one tiny problem- I rarely make anything I pin.

I even have a board called Things I Want to Make, and yet very few of those items have been attempted.

That’s why this month I joined the Pinterest Challenge.

I chose this pin, (from I Heart Naptime) which I pinned several years ago and have been dying to try.  I just never get around to it!

I did want to make one change though.  I pretty much kill anything I try to grow, so I wanted to use mine with some silk flowers to keep as a centerpiece or decor piece inside my house.  This is what I created:

So, following the directions, I used a sharp serrated knife to cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin.  I picked my pumpkin up at Michaels for 40% off.  (They will be even cheaper later in the season).

I didn’t cut as big a hole as in the original, since I was only going to be putting stems in and not a flower pot.

Then I gathered up every fall stem I own and just started playing around with them.  I had a bunch that I’ve bought for past projects that just needed some new life.  I am by no means a floral arranger, and I probably broke every rule you’re supposed to follow, but I pretty much just put them in till they looked pretty to me!

Super simple, right?  There is NO reason I should’ve waited this long to make this.  And now I’m ready for my fall decor!  (Too bad it’s still 108 here in Phoenix!)

I’m just trying to decided if I should add ribbon or leave as is.  What do you think? Are you decorating for fall yet?
