Now, on to today’s project:

Confession:  I don’t actually buy fabric very often.  I do a lot of crafting, but not a lot of sewing.  But, I found this really cute fabric on sale, so I took a deep breath and bought it.  This time, I was going to make a skirt for ME. Now my plan was to make a skirt for Easter.  Confession #2- I took Sewing 101 in high school, but that was *insert number here* years ago, and I don’t remember a lot.  I can sew very basic things, and follow a pattern decently.  I decided to try an online tutorial for a simple gathered skirt.  It turned out AWFUL!  I’m not going to blame the tutorial author, because most likely, it was, as my husband says “operator error”, or the fact that I have a body that didn’t go well with the skirt design.  Either way, I just wasn’t comfortable wearing it.  I was devastated- such cute fabric- wasted!  I hoped I could fix it somehow, but wasn’t sure how.
Well, as if in answer to a prayer, my friend Linda from Craftaholics Anonymous posted this tutorial for an easy ruffled skirt.  When I read the measurements, I realized I could rip out the seams in my skirt, cut out new pieces, and sew them back together following her pattern.  It was worth a try, anyway.

It took a little work finagling the casing from the old skirt to the new, but other than that, it just took some time and patience with the seam ripper, and a little bravery on my part.  It turned out SO MUCH BETTER!
Anyway, if you can sew seams and ruffle strips of fabric, you can make this skirt!  I liked it so much that I bought more fabric to make another one!  Things are getting crazy in here!
